Frequently Asked Questions

1. What Takes Place in My First Training Session?

Each client will complete a health history questionnaire/activity history, so that I am aware of any limiting conditions in order to create a safe and effective routine (in some cases a doctor’s release is required to start an exercise program). You will then complete a fitness assessment followed by a brief workout.

Fitness assessments provide a starting point for your program. They also help to measure a starting point for goals that you plan to achieve.

The fitness assessment consists of:

  • Taking your blood pressure and resting heart rate
  • Body fat testing
  • Treadmill test to determine aerobic conditioning and capacity
  • Height, weight, and body measurements

2.  Why Should I Exercise Regularly?  What Are Some of The Benefits of A Good Exercise Regimen?

  • Allergies. One of the most effective ways to control nasal congestion
  • Anxiety. Triggers the release of mood altering chemicals in the brain
  • Arthritis. Induces the manufacture of synovial fluid, helps to distribute it over the cartilage and forces it to circulate throughout the joint space
  • Back Pain.  Helps to both strengthen the abdominal muscles and the lower back extensor muscles and stretch the hamstring muscles
  • Cholesterol. Helps to raise HDL (good cholesterol) levels in the blood and lower LDL (the undesirable lipoprotein) levels
  • Depression. Helps speed metabolism and deliver more oxygen to the brain; the improved level of circulation in the brain tends to enhance your mood
  • Fatigue. Helps alleviate fatigue-causing of stress, poor circulation and blood oxygenation, bad posture, and poor breathing habits.
  • High Blood Pressure.  Reduces levels of stress related chemicals in the blood stream that constrict arteries and veins, and helps reduce blood pressure through bodyweight maintenance
  • Lung Disease. Helps strengthen the muscles associated with breathing and helps boost the oxygen level in the blood. Improves overall health!

3.  What Sets You Apart From Other Trainers?

A GOOD TRAINER DOES NOT:

  • Talk on his/her cell phone during your appointment
  • Arrive late for sessions
  • Show up unprepared
  • Make last minute cancellations
  • Fail to keep client records and progress

Being a former Marine, I pride myself on promptness, hard work, accountability, and dependability. Those same core values are expected out of each client that I encounter.

Since I know the value of teamwork in a client/trainer relationship, I stress to my clients the importance of becoming a team for however long we are together.

4. Do I Have To Have A Membership To Train At A Private Gym?

There is no membership required and no contracts to sign. Just choose my gym or a place that fits your comfort level and let me do the rest.

5. How Do You Stay In Shape?

My personal program consists of 3-4 days of strength training with cardio work done on my off days.  I play basketball and various indoor sports to stay in shape, also.  I recommend that all my clients try a pilates or yoga class to increase your flexibility, strengthen your core, and promote the good health in general.
